Individualized Guidance

1:1 Student academic coaching support for students in grades Kindergarten through 8th Grade. I provide reading, writing, and math intervention using a variety of systematic, multimodality, and structured programs and tools. In addition, I can work with students in the middle school on subject-specific guidance. Sessions are tailored to the individual student's needs and can be adjusted as the student progresses. Interwoven in academic coaching is executive functioning skills. These skills are necessary components to a child's overall success regardless of the age or subject being worked on together. Support can happen at your home, the student's school or online.

Expertise in Education

Educational assessments by trained professionals play a vital role in understanding students' abilities, tailoring education to individual needs, and ensuring that appropriate support and interventions are provided for optimal learning outcomes.

Assessments can help identify potential challenges at an early stage, allowing for timely intervention. Early identification and intervention are often crucial in addressing learning difficulties and preventing academic or emotional struggles from escalating. I conduct assessments over several sessions depending on the child's bandwidth and then a report summarizing the findings is reviewed with the parents and the child. Any recommendations for home and school are identified and shared. These educational assessments can pinpoint specific areas of strength and weakness, allowing me to tailor my teaching methods to suit the individual needs of the student.

PLEASE NOTE:

I do Psycho-Educational Evaluations and do not diagnose. Referrals to professionals who do Diagnostic testing are given to the family if indeed they decide to look deeper into their child's specific needs.

Executive Functioning

Executive functioning refers to a set of mental processes that involve managing oneself and one's resources in order to achieve a goal. These cognitive processes are responsible for planning, organizing, initiating, and completing tasks. Executive functions are crucial for various aspects of daily life, including problem-solving, decision-making, goal-setting, and regulating emotions and behavior. These functions play a significant role in academic and professional success, as well as in personal and social functioning. Challenges in executive functioning can manifest in various ways, including difficulties in time management, organizing tasks, following through on plans, and regulating emotions.

Inhibitory Control: The ability to control impulses, resist distractions, and refrain from engaging in behaviors that may be inappropriate in a given context.

Cognitive Flexibility: The capacity to adapt to changing situations, switch between tasks, and consider different perspectives or approaches to a problem.

Planning and Organization: The ability to create a plan, set goals, and systematically organize tasks. This includes breaking down larger tasks into smaller, manageable steps.

Initiation and Motivation: The ability to start tasks and activities independently, as well as to sustain effort and motivation over time.
